Overnight bedrest may lower CK 10% to 20%. The CK-MB activity
accounts for 6-25% of total CK activity

Intended Use

Diagnosis and monitoring of acute myocardial infarct and
skeletal muscular damage (Duchenne muscular dystrophy, muscular stress or
trauma,  polymyositis,
dermatomyositis, rhabdomyolysis).

Limitations

Intramuscular
injections increase serum CK activity. Elevation of CK following acute MI
may not be observed until 6 or more hours after onset.  CK can be normal in acute MI, when
CK-MB is increased.

Measuring range: 3.0 to 2000
U/L.

Patient Preparation

Avoid
exercise before venipuncture. Increases may be anticipated in the
immediate postoperative period following surgical procedures involving
incision through muscle.

Reasons for Rejection

In case of plasma: use of anticoagulant other than heparin or
EDTA.
